Twenty years into this career and the only thing I know for sure about Interior Design is that a home is a reflection of one’s life. For that reason, if we are talking about how to improve the quality of a home, we also need to talk about the life of the person that intends to live in it.
If there is a disconnect between a person’s life and their home…the interior will never be welcoming. No matter what the color of the sofa, the cost of the chandelier, or the inclusion of whatever recent trend happens to be circulating at the moment, the home will be inauthentic.
A poorly designed home is an obstacle to a person’s self realization. The job of an Interior Designer is to identify and eliminate any cause of friction between who you are and where you live.
I choose to blog freely about food, clothing, travel, books, nature, family, politics, housecleaning, and music on this page: They all impact a home and therefore are ultimately elements of Interior Design.
This is Interior Design. My way.
