COOKING
Mr Call's Definitive (yet classic) Chocolate Chip Cookie
So, this all started out innocently enough. I invited two of my neighbors at Park South over for dinner and games one night. I didn’t know them very well, but knew they were younger and super handsome and by the looks of things preferred eating healthfully.
While I took this to heart in creating my dinner menu, I just had to offer a sweet treat to end the evening. I was like, “What is something that everyone likes?” I remember it being Fall. Is was cool outside. So, I decided to make Molasses cookies. I planned on serving them freshly baked from the oven to serve directly to my guests at the table with glasses of ice cold whole milk.
To my surprise, one of the new guests not only took a liking to the cookies….but, if I remember correctly took the entire plate and immediately started eating them all with the most happy, indulged, guilt ridden look on his face that I had ever seen. It was at that moment we all nicknamed him “The Cookie Monster”. It’s memories like this that make hosting parties at home so worthwhile. Literally will NEVER forget that look on his face!
That said on done, for this years Park South VIP party, I decided to introduce a new cooking in his honor. It is my take on the classic Nieman Marcus cookie that has been circulating since the late eighties - updated with better chocolate.
Happy cookie eating, Cookie Monster. I hope you like this one!
Looking forward to your adventures with this one. Feel free to tag #MrCallDesigns on Instagram if you decide to make it!

Mr Call's Definitive (yet classic) Chocolate Chip Cookie

Instructions
- Heat oven to 375 degrees
- Cream together butter and both sugars. Stir in eggs and vanilla.
- Finely grind oatmeal in a blender or food processor. Combine the oatmeal, flour, salt, baking powder and soda in a medium bowl, and slowly add it to the wet ingredients. Beat just until combined. - Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls, 2 inches apart, on a greased cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes.
Notes
I love to serve these as a passed desert after a long evening of rich food. First, I use a 2 ounce cookie scoop (The Oxo/Goodgrips is the best) to make sure the diameter of the cookie is just about 2" around. Then I order clear disposable shot glasses and fill them with whole milk. I set the cookie on top, like a hat, and serve with a great linen cocktail napkin. It's this type of Hi/Low that I can truly get behind! All products are available via affiliate link below:
