Legal & Privacy — Mr Call Designs
Legal & Privacy

Three documents, one page. Privacy Policy, Terms of Use, and Accessibility Statement for Mr Call Designs. Written in plain language. Dated and contactable.

Mr Call Designs is operated by Reis Daniel LLC, a Delaware-registered limited liability company. These three documents govern use of the site and the services offered through it. By using mrcalldesigns.com you accept them. For any question, write to legal@mrcalldesigns.com.

Part One

Privacy Policy.

Three kinds of data.

The first is what you give directly: your email address when you sign up for the newsletter, your name and email if you contact the practice, and the details of any consultation brief you submit. The second is what is collected automatically when you visit the site: your IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, and the referrer that brought you here. The third is affiliate click data: when you follow a retailer link from a review, the retailer and its affiliate network record the click and any resulting purchase.

To run the practice.

Email addresses are used to send the newsletter and to respond to inquiries. Consultation brief details are used to prepare the video response you paid for. Automatically-collected data is used to understand how readers find and use the site, and to improve editorial decisions about which pieces to review next. Affiliate click data is used to calculate commissions owed by retailers. None of this data is sold.

A small number of service providers.

Mr Call Designs uses the following third parties to run the business, and each has access only to the data required for its function: Squarespace hosts the website and processes form submissions. Stripe processes payments for consultations. A newsletter delivery platform handles list storage and email sending — the current provider is named at the end of this page and will be updated when it changes. Google Analytics, used with IP anonymization, provides aggregate traffic data. Retail affiliate networks record clicks and commissions. No data is shared with advertisers, resold to data brokers, or used for third-party marketing.

Minimal use.

The site uses cookies for three purposes: to remember if you have dismissed a banner, to enable affiliate attribution so retailers know a purchase came from mrcalldesigns.com, and to allow Google Analytics to measure aggregate traffic. No cross-site advertising cookies are set by Mr Call Designs. Your browser settings can block all cookies; the site will still function, but affiliate attribution may not work, which costs Mr Call Designs revenue, not you.

Access, correction, deletion, opt-out.

You have the right to see what information is held about you, to correct any error, to have it deleted, and to opt out of the newsletter at any time. Newsletter opt-out is a one-click link at the bottom of every edition. For any other request, write to privacy@mrcalldesigns.com and you will receive a response within thirty days.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information.

Mr Call Designs does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the California Privacy Rights Act, California residents have the right to request access to their information, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate data, and to opt out of any sale or share if one occurred. To exercise any of these rights, write to privacy@mrcalldesigns.com. There is no cost to submit a request, and no adverse treatment for submitting one.

GDPR baseline.

For visitors from the European Union and the United Kingdom, the legal basis for processing personal data is consent for the newsletter, contract performance for paid consultations, and legitimate interest for aggregate site analytics and affiliate attribution. You may withdraw consent at any time and exercise the rights described above by writing to privacy@mrcalldesigns.com.

Only as long as it is useful.

Newsletter subscribers remain on the list until they unsubscribe, plus a short grace period for bounce handling. Consultation brief data is retained for two years for records and follow-up. Aggregate analytics data is retained for twenty-six months. Payment records are retained for seven years to meet tax and accounting requirements.

Not a site for minors.

Mr Call Designs is intended for adults shopping for furniture. The site does not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of sixteen. If you believe a minor has submitted information, write to privacy@mrcalldesigns.com and it will be deleted.

Part Two

Terms of Use.

Editorial. Not professional advice for your home.

Mr Call Designs is a design publication. The reviews, approvals, methodology, and commentary on the site are the author's editorial opinions, informed by twenty-five years of interior design practice. They are not a substitute for a professional consultation in your home. Before making a major purchase, take measurements, confirm specifications with the retailer, and use your own judgment about whether a piece suits your space.

The marks and the rubric are owned.

MR CALL APPROVED, THE CALL STANDARD, and MR CALL DESIGNS are trademarks of Reis Daniel LLC. The ten-category scoring rubric, the Style Classification taxonomy, the Tier-Relative Benchmarking principle, and the proprietary vocabulary used throughout the site are the intellectual property of Reis Daniel LLC. None of these may be copied, adapted, or used commercially without written permission. Brands wishing to license the MR CALL APPROVED mark for a product that has earned it should contact brands@mrcalldesigns.com.

Individual review copy, photography, and editorial content are protected by copyright. Short quotations for press and commentary use are welcomed; reproducing full reviews or building derivative review sites on the methodology is not permitted.

How the site makes money.

Mr Call Designs participates in retailer affiliate programs. When you follow a link from a review to a retailer and make a purchase, the site may earn a commission from the retailer. The commission is paid by the retailer, not by you — your price is the same whether you arrived through the site or any other path. Commissions are disclosed at the top of each review. No brand pays to influence a score, and no score is adjusted for commercial consideration.

The paid service.

The Ask Mr Call consultation is a paid service offered through the site. When you submit a brief and pay the fee, the practice agrees to deliver a private video response within five business days, covering the specific question you asked. The service includes one follow-up clarification within seven days of receipt. Fees are non-refundable once a brief has been submitted and the review has begun, except at the practice's discretion in the case of a failure to deliver. The response is personal advice for your situation only and is not a published review.

What happens when a brand sends a product.

Brands may submit products for possible review. Submission does not guarantee a review, does not create any commercial relationship, and does not establish any right to payment or publication. A submitted product is evaluated against The Call Standard at the practice's editorial discretion. If the product does not earn a review, no published critique of the submission will appear. For paid pre-market advisory engagements, separate terms apply and are documented in the engagement agreement.

What you may not do.

You agree not to use the site in any way that violates applicable law, infringes the rights of others, or interferes with the site's operation. You agree not to scrape the site at volume, reproduce the proprietary rubric, resell access to the content, or use the site to train a machine learning model without written permission. Automated harvesting of the approvals archive, the glossary, or the methodology page is prohibited.

The site links out, but does not warrant what it links to.

The site links to retailers, brands, manufacturers, and other external sites. Mr Call Designs does not operate those sites, does not verify their content beyond the specific product being reviewed, and is not responsible for their policies, practices, or transactions. When you purchase from a retailer through a site link, the transaction is between you and the retailer under the retailer's terms.

The site is provided as is.

The site, the reviews, the methodology, and all content are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While the practice takes reasonable care with specifications, measurements, and claims, product details change, brands reformulate, and errors occur. Mr Call Designs does not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, that reviews will remain accurate indefinitely, or that any specific outcome will follow from purchasing an approved product. The Post-Publication Protocol governs how reviews are updated when products change.

To the extent permitted by law.

Reis Daniel LLC, Mr Call, and the practice are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of the site or from any product recommendation. The total liability of Reis Daniel LLC in any matter arising from the site is limited to the amount you paid to the practice in the preceding twelve months — which is zero for readers who have never purchased a consultation. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those jurisdictions, liability is limited to the minimum permitted by law.

Mutual protection.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Reis Daniel LLC, its members, and the practice from claims arising out of your violation of these terms or your misuse of the site. This provision survives termination.

Delaware law. Arbitration for contested matters.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these terms or from use of the site will be resolved by binding arbitration in Delaware, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in court for intellectual property matters. You agree to resolve any dispute on an individual basis; class actions are not permitted.

Part Three

Accessibility.

WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

The site targets conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. This is the accessibility standard most US and EU jurisdictions reference for commercial websites. Conformance is an ongoing effort, not a one-time certification.

Measures taken across the site.

The site is built with semantic HTML and logical heading structure. Color contrast ratios meet or exceed the 4.5:1 standard for body text and 3:1 for large text. All functional images carry descriptive alt text; images that are purely decorative are marked appropriately so screen readers skip them. The site is keyboard-navigable. Forms carry visible labels and accessible names. Font sizes scale with browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content or functionality. The site uses a single typeface and a flat two-size hierarchy, which reduces cognitive load for readers with dyslexia or visual-processing differences.

Areas still being addressed.

The Squarespace platform that hosts the site introduces some accessibility behavior outside direct control — certain embedded widgets and third-party blocks may not meet Level AA in every respect. Where those blocks are used, effort is made to supplement them with accessible alternatives. Older archived content may not fully meet current standards; remediation is ongoing and prioritized by traffic. The site does not currently offer text-to-speech playback of reviews or video captions on older video content, both of which are on the remediation roadmap.

Retailer links are not under site control.

When you follow an affiliate link from a review to a retailer's site, you leave Mr Call Designs and enter an environment whose accessibility is controlled by the retailer. The practice cannot warrant the accessibility of third-party destinations, but endeavors to link only to retailers that meet reasonable industry standards.

One inbox, thirty-day response window.

If you encounter a page, feature, or document on the site that is not accessible to you, write to accessibility@mrcalldesigns.com. Include a description of the issue, the page URL, and the assistive technology or access method you are using. You will receive a response within thirty days, along with a plan for remediation or an alternative means of accessing the content.

Accessibility is not a finish line.

The site is reviewed for accessibility at least annually. User feedback, platform updates, and new content all feed into ongoing improvements. Remediation requests are logged and prioritized, and barriers identified by real users are addressed ahead of theoretical edge cases.

If direct contact does not resolve a barrier.

If reporting a barrier to accessibility@mrcalldesigns.com does not produce a satisfactory resolution, you may contact the US Department of Justice under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, or your state's equivalent civil rights office. European visitors may contact their national enforcement body under the European Accessibility Act.
